About the Client

A three-partner accounting firm in East Maitland with 15 years in business. Strong reputation built entirely through word of mouth and referrals from a loyal client base. Despite being genuinely excellent at their work, the partners had noticed a troubling trend: they were losing pitches for younger clients and small business accounts to larger firms — firms that had nothing more than a better-looking website and a polished online presence.

The Challenge

The firm’s website dated from 2016. It wasn’t mobile-friendly, had no online booking, no clear service pages, and no pricing guidance. A potential client visiting the site in 2024 would find a wall of text and no obvious way to get in touch. The firm had no Google Business Profile at all — meaning they didn’t appear in local map searches. Competitors with more modern websites were winning jobs the firm was more qualified to do. The partners knew the problem but had never found time to fix it in 15 years.

What We Did

  • New website with clear, dedicated service pages: Tax Returns, BAS & GST, SMSF, Business Advisory, and Bookkeeping
  • Online appointment booking integrated directly into the site — clients can book a 30-minute intro call without calling the office
  • Google Business Profile setup and full optimisation with photos, service descriptions, and a Q&A section
  • Google Ads campaign targeting “accountant Maitland”, “tax agent Newcastle”, and related hunter valley suburbs
  • Monthly SEO reporting so the partners can see exactly where their traffic and enquiries are coming from

The Results

Within three weeks of launch the enquiry form was receiving daily submissions. Website enquiries tripled compared to the same period in the previous year. The first tax season after launch was the busiest the firm had ever had — they turned away work for the first time. Google now drives 47% of all new client enquiries, a channel that had contributed zero previously. The partners have since hired an additional staff accountant to handle demand.

“We’d been meaning to fix the website for years but never got around to it. Newcastle Hub had the new site live in 3 weeks and the enquiries started coming in immediately. We turned away work in June — never happened before.”
